GETTING TO HOLBOX

The journey to Holbox is part of the adventure — from the mainland to the sea and into our island paradise. The closest airport is Cancún International (CUN). From there, it’s about a 2-hour drive to Chiquilá, followed by a short ferry ride to the island.

Private Transfer – We can arrange door-to-port service from Cancún Airport, Cancún hotels, or the Riviera Maya.


Taxi – Available at Cancún Airport and hotel zones; fares vary, booking ahead is recommended.


Bus (ADO) – Daily service from Cancún’s downtown terminal, ~3.5–4 hours to Chiquilá.


Car Rental:  Available at the airport. We recommend driving during the day, as some roads are not well lit.

  • Toll Road (Cuota): Faster with fewer stops.
  • Free Road (Libre): No toll fees with more local traffic.

Cars are not allowed on Holbox—secure parking is available in Chiquilá ($100–150 MXN per day).

  • WHERE IS HOLBOX LOCATED?

    Holbox is a small island off the northern coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, where the Caribbean Sea meets the Gulf of Mexico. It’s part of the Yum Balam Nature Reserve, about two hours north of Cancún by car, followed by a short ferry ride from the town of Chiquilá.

  • IS IT RECOMMENDED TO BRING CASH?

    Yes. Holbox has very few ATMs and only one currency exchange. Many local restaurants and tour providers charge extra for credit card payments, so carrying cash is the most convenient option.


  • HOW DO I GET AROUND HOLBOX?

    No cars, only sandy streets—taxis (golf carts), bicycles, and walking.

  • DO YOU OFFER WI-FI?

    Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel so you can stay connected—though we recommend unplugging and enjoying Holbox’s natural beauty as much as possible.

    Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is until 11:00 AM. If you need an early check-in or late check-out, let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate (subject to availability).

    Yes! Our beachfront restaurant, Las Hamacas, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily—and it’s open to both guests and the public. You can also enjoy our Beach Club, sip cocktails at the pool bar, or order room service right to your suite.

  • IS BREAKFAST INCLUDED?

    Yes! Every stay includes a daily à la carte breakfast at Las Hamacas Restaurant—served beachfront with fresh fruit, juices, and made-to-order dishes.

  • ARE CHILDREN WELCOME?

    Absolutely! Children are more than welcome to enjoy island life with you. Our main pool includes a shallow section where little ones can splash and play.

  • ARE PETS ALLOWED?

    We love animals, but unfortunately pets are not permitted at the hotel.
